Bows Up for the 3rd Bob Wills Fiddle Festival & Contest
Historic downtown Greenville TX is preparing to host the 3rd Annual Bob Wills Fiddle Festival & Contest this October 6-9, and the Bob Wills Heritage Foundation is thrilled to share the news. Thursday night, October 6th, the Festival will kick off with a ‘Big Ball in G-Town’ dinner and dance featuring the Jason Roberts Band in the Emerald Ballroom at Landon Winery. Great food, music and lots of room for dancing!
Then, on Friday night, October 7th, a jam-packed triple billing will stage the re-opening of the newly-renovated GMA (Greenville Municipal Auditorium.) Asleep at the Wheel will headline, and the great Dale Watson and his Lonestars will perform, following the opening performance by The Jason Roberts Band featuring Texas Playboy Leon Rausch.
Saturday, October 8th, will welcome the Fiddle Contest preliminaries at the Texan Theater, plus live music on the outdoor stage by the 9-piece Tulsa Playboys, Cherokee Maidens from Kansas (featuring original Dixie Chick Robin Macy) and The Jason Roberts Band, and a “New Car Show Expo” and craft beer and wine tastings.
On Saturday evening, the GMA will celebrate the return engagement of The Time Jumpers featuring Vince Gill, Kenny Sears, ‘Ranger Doug’ Green and Paul Franklin with the opening performance by the Western Flyers. Then, after the Time Jumpers, the Landmark downtown will open for a free Saturday night dance with the Tulsa Playboys!
Sunday’s highlights will be the Fiddle Contest Finals and Awards Ceremony at the GMA. In addition to the moments that matter to each hopeful and talented musician, the Fiddle Finals are a great way for everyone to spend an afternoon, cheer for contestants and feel a connection to America’s roots.The Festival’s free events include the 2-day Fiddle Contest, outdoor concert, Saturday night dance, Bob Wills exhibit, new car show and brew and wine fests.
